About Me

I am an Ottawa-based artist.

My work has appeared in numerous galleries, and currently resides in personal collections, across Canada, the US, England and France.

With a focus on portraiture and figurative pieces, my work encompasses a range of techniques and media.  I am strongly influenced by the work of many great 20th and 21st century artists including Francis Bacon’s use of darkness, colour and the flux between abstraction and figure, Lucien Freud’s brushwork, texture and examination of flesh, and Egon Schiele’s line, colour, distortion of figure and examination of self.  I also admire Kathe Kollwitz’s dark and honest drawings and prints as well as Gerhard Richter’s abstract paintings.

I hold a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from the University of Calgary.  My Master’s thesis show at Concordia was entitled “i am not archival” and included more than 120 self-portraits in a range of media including intaglio and linocut on paper, oil and acrylic paint on canvas, and mixed media on recycled pizza boxes.

I absolutely love and admire your work!
I am currently an A level student studying art which I love. I’ve studied Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon who are two of my favourite artists however I think your work tops them all. It’s a modern take on figurative and objective portraiture. Your depth, detail and gesture’s you put into some of your work mesmerises me! I just want to wish you luck in the future as a developing artist and I hope others appreciate it as much as I do!
